John is a Consulting CFO with a strong interest in the intersection of technology, business and startups. With more than 20 years experience in leading early stage companies, John helps clients think through difficult issues from a financial perspective.
John’s interest in the business of technology started early in his home state of Georgia. While earning his bachelor’s degree in finance from Georgia State University, John worked as a database and network developer. This was the time of the creation of the Mac, the IBM PC, the first laptops, and the first cell phones. It was an exciting time for those who love technology. John’s strong interest in technology led John to found the first Internet-based industrial chemical exchange. He led this company through four rounds of financing until it was sold to the Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the NYSE.
John earned his CPA after university and served as the controller of a medical group. Later, he was a managing consultant at Ernst & Young, focusing on financial feasibility studies. He next developed skills for working with early stage start-ups as he directed the M&A team at a private equity- funded physician practice rollup. As one of the early employees, he helped grow the company from $0 to $100M in three years.
John now applies his skills to technology companies. He started the industrial chemical exchange and led an early stage technology company which builds mathematical models of healthcare and delivers them as a software service. John also served as CFO for a small northern California hedge fund before joining cfos2o as lead partner for technology company clients in all stages of their life-cylces: start-ups, early stage, pre-IPO and public enterprises.
